STS Systems are proud sponsors of Seth Coetzee, and his intrepid teammates, currently taking part in the 3,000km Rickshaw Run in India, to raise money for Cool Earth.
Seth, Toni and Anna, all university students from Sydney kicked off the Rickshaw Run on 2 Jan 2017 in Kochi. Their journey will take them through Bengalaru, Goa, Mumbai and Udaipur, before arriving in Jaisalmer on the 14/15 Jan…3,000km later!
We caught up with Seth before he left for India:
Why the Rickshaw Run?
Travelling, adventure and the environment are all important for myself and my team mates, so being able to combine them by contributing to a great cause such as Cool Earth whilst driving across India in a Rickshaw, was a no-brainer!
Tell us more about Cool Earth
Cool Earth is the charity that works alongside indigenous villages to halt rainforest destruction. They are safeguarding half a million acres of rainforest across three continents, and behind their terrific milestone are thousands of families whose futures have been transformed. Here’s Cool Earth’s latest stats:
What’s your goal?
In terms of what we want to achieve, personally I would love to expand my perceptions of the world and be a part of an exhilarating adventure that driving a slightly dodgy vehicle 3000km across India will entail!
For the charity, myself and my team were aiming to raise at least $1900 for Cool Earth – we’re currently at $2500 which we see as a big success. As we are all concerned about the environment this adventure has inspired us to be more conscious in the way we live and in the future I plan on being involved in more fundraising.
Who’s in the team?
Toni Tait, Anna O’Donnell and myself (Seth Coetzee) will be on the Rickshaw Run.
Toni is a long time friend who I have known since pre-school when we were 3, and both still lived in South Africa. She is currently a student at UTS, studying a degree in Secondary Education.
Anna is is studying at Macquarie University a dual degree – Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Psychology, and does casual work for a tutoring company.
I am currently studying a dual degree of Bachelor of Commerce (Major in Marketing) and a Bachelor of Psychology at Macquarie University.
